Motorcyclist dies after rear-ending dump truck in Avon Park

AVON PARK, FL – A two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a dump truck killed a 43-year-old motorcyclist on Monday in northwest Highlands County, reports NBC 2.

The incident happened around 4:19 p.m. on the northbound side of US-27 at County Road 17, which is just northwest of Lake Isis.

The investigation thus far indicates that both a motorcycle and a dump truck were travelling north on US-27 when the dump truck veered suddenly into the motorcycle’s lane. The motorcycle then collided with the rear of the truck.

The motorcycle operator died at the scene of the accident.

A full investigation is underway.
