2 killed in Nassau Co. motorcycle vs. pedestrian crash

FERNANDINA BEACH, FL – A 79-year-old pedestrian and a 36-year-old motorcyclist died Thursday afternoon after the motorcycle struck the pedestrian along a roadway in Fernandina Beach, reports News 4 Jax.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Jasmine Street and Citrona Drive, which is just west of Egan’s Creek Greenway Trail.

Police say the pedestrian was walking across Jasmine from Egan’s Creek Greenway Trail when the motorcyclist struck him. The force of the collision threw the biker from his motorcycle, and both men died at the scene of the crash.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims. A full investigation is underway.
