50-year-old motorcyclist dead after 3-vehicle crash involving semi-truck in St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A 50-year-old motorcyclist died on Thursday in a three-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in St. Petersburg, reports Fox 13.

The incident happened in the morning on the northbound side of I-275.

The investigation indicates that the northbound motorcyclist failed to slow for traffic and collided with the rear of an SUV. The force of the collision threw the motorcyclist from his bike, at which point he was struck by an 18-wheeler.

The motorcyclist died after transport to a local hospital. Police have not yet released his identity.

Thus far, no other injuries have been reported in connection to the crash.
