ARCADIA, FL – A 19-year-old motorcyclist died on Monday morning after colliding with an 18-wheeler on the highway in central DeSoto County, reports WINK News.
The incident happened late in the morning on the northbound side of US-17 near the intersection with Northeast Arcadia Avenue, which is south of the Arcadia Municipal Golf Course.
The investigation indicates that the northbound motorcyclist collided with a semi-truck as the truck was making a left turn onto US-17.
The motorcyclist died at the scene of the accident. It is unclear if he was wearing a safety helmet at the time of the crash.
No other injuries have been reported in connection with the collision.
