Motorcyclist killed in single-vehicle crash on Arlington Expy

JACKSONVILLE, FL – A 57-year-old motorcycle rider died Sunday morning after losing control of his bike and crashing along the freeway in Jacksonville, reports News 4 Jax.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. on the eastbound side of the Arlington Expressway service road, just east of Arlington Road. This area is south of the Tree Hill Nature Center.

Police say the motorcycle overturned and ejected the rider after he hit the concrete median between the service road and the expressway. The motorcyclist then struck a metal pole.

The man was not wearing a safety helmet at the time of the collision and died at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
